CM Yogi In Ayodhya Refers To Hanuman Garhi Incident In Speech

CM Yogi raises past Ayodhya temple controversy in speech.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday criticised opposition parties over a controversy linked to an alleged incident of namaz being offered at Hanuman Garhi, a prominent Hindu religious site in Ayodhya. Addressing supporters, the Chief Minister accused the Samajwadi Party and Congress of engaging in what he described as “appeasement politics” and questioned their approach towards matters related to religious sentiments.

Yogi Adityanath said those involved in the earlier controversy were the same people who, according to him, had committed the “sin” of allowing namaz on the steps of Hanuman Garhi. He used the issue to attack previous governments and alleged that decisions taken during their tenure had hurt the sentiments of devotees associated with the sacred city of Ayodhya.

Hanuman Garhi is among Ayodhya’s most recognised religious landmarks and is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. The temple, located close to the Ayodhya railway station, holds major religious importance for devotees visiting the city and is considered one of the key pilgrimage sites in the region.

The Chief Minister’s remarks came amid a wider political debate over issues related to religious identity, heritage and governance in Ayodhya. While Yogi Adityanath accused opposition parties of neglecting Hindu concerns, political opponents have previously criticised such statements as attempts to create division for electoral gains.

Ayodhya has remained a major focus of political and cultural discussions in recent years following developments around the Ram temple and the city’s transformation as a major religious destination. The government has repeatedly highlighted security, infrastructure development and preservation of religious heritage as key priorities for the region.

The latest remarks are expected to intensify political discussions in Uttar Pradesh, with the Hanuman Garhi controversy becoming another issue in the ongoing debate between ruling and opposition parties. Authorities and political groups continue to emphasise the importance of maintaining peace and harmony in the sensitive religious landscape of Ayodhya.
