CM Should Resign! Kerala BJP Ups Ante Against Pinarayi Vijayan
BJP Turns Up Heat: Kerala CM Vijayan Must Quit Over Corruption, Says Party
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday intensified its attack on Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, demanding his resignation and a high-level probe into alleged corruption plaguing his Left-led government.
The call came hours after senior CPI(M) leader and former state minister G. Sudhakaran reportedly questioned Kerala’s much-touted top rankings under Vijayan’s rule.
Speaking at a press conference at BJP headquarters, national spokesperson Tom Vadakkan seized on Sudhakaran’s remarks, claiming they exposed the state’s rot. “Sudhakaran, a former Left minister, asked if Kerala is now number one in drug abuse.
He slammed the health sector as a ‘royal mess’ and the education system as compromised, with exam paper leaks rampant for two years,” Vadakkan said. The Kerala government has yet to respond to the BJP’s salvo.
The BJP latched onto the CPI(M) veteran’s critique to amplify its charge of systemic corruption reaching Vijayan’s office. “Rajeev Chandrasekhar, our senior leader, has already demanded the CM’s resignation over this. We stand by that call—Vijayan must go,” Vadakkan asserted, pressing for a thorough investigation into the allegations.
Sudhakaran’s reported dissent has handed the BJP fresh ammunition to target Vijayan, whose administration has faced repeated corruption claims, including scams linked to his family and flagship projects.
With the Left defending its governance record, the BJP’s escalation signals a brewing political storm in Kerala, as it seeks to corner the CM and his party ahead of future electoral battles.
