CJP To Hold Parliament March On July 20 Over Pending Demands

CJP announces July 20 Parliament march over demands.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced a march to Parliament on July 20, coinciding with the first day of the Monsoon Session, as part of its ongoing protest over alleged examination irregularities. The youth-led group said the march would begin from Jantar Mantar and would be joined by educator and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk.

The announcement came as the CJP’s protest at Jantar Mantar entered its 20th day. The organisation has been demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, alleging failures in the examination system and seeking accountability over irregularities linked to competitive exams. The group has also called for support from students, parents, and citizens across the country.

According to the CJP, the Parliament march will focus on seeking justice for students who allegedly died by suicide following the cancellation of the NEET-UG examination due to irregularities. Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike since June 28, appealed to people to join the march and said Parliament was the appropriate platform to raise the concerns.

Wangchuk said that public participation was needed beyond online messages and urged supporters to gather at Jantar Mantar for a peaceful march towards Parliament. He highlighted concerns related to examination issues as well as broader public causes, including environmental matters affecting Ladakh and India’s rivers.

The protest organisers also accused the Delhi Police of restricting the entry of tarpaulins at the demonstration site despite heavy rainfall. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke shared a video alleging that protesters, including students on hunger strike, were struggling to remain protected from the weather while police personnel had access to covered areas.

The CJP said several political leaders, including Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant and CPI(M) leader Subhashini Ali, had visited Jantar Mantar and extended support to the demand for a transparent examination system. Doctors attending Wangchuk reportedly said his health had declined during the hunger strike, while another activist was admitted to hospital after his condition worsened. The protest follows allegations of a paper leak in the NEET-UG examination, which was later cancelled and followed by a re-test.
