Chirag Paswan Declares Unwavering Loyalty to PM Modi, Rules Out Post-Poll Alliances
LJP leader vows unbreakable NDA loyalty in Bihar.
Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) President Chirag Paswan has publicly declared his profound admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating "I love him a bit too much" and affirming that he is "inseparable" from the leader. In an exclusive interview with ANI on Monday, Paswan categorically ruled out any post-poll alliances after the Bihar elections, insisting he will remain firmly within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) regardless of outcomes. He dismissed speculations of overtures from Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, emphasizing his unyielding commitment as long as Modi leads the nation.
Paswan drew parallels with his father, the late RamVil Paswan, famously known as the "mausam vaigyanik" for his prescient political alignments that often propelled his chosen alliances to power. Recalling the LJP's formation in 2000 and its initial NDA membership, he noted the party's exit in 2002 amid the Godhra riots and subsequent joining of the UPA in 2004 under Sonia Gandhi's invitation. Paswan highlighted how his father's decision proved prophetic when the UPA unexpectedly formed the government despite the BJP's "India Shining" campaign, with elections advanced by six months.
Contrasting his own steadfastness, Chirag Paswan stressed that neither he nor his father ever engaged in post-poll alliances, always committing pre-election and staying loyal. He recounted rejoining the NDA in 2014 at his insistence, leading to another victorious government, and reiterated this principle for the current Bihar polls. Paswan expressed full confidence in the NDA forming a robust "double-engine" government in the state, backed by public trust in development and his party's "Bihar First, Bihari First" vision, while endorsing Nitish Kumar as the alliance's chief ministerial face.

The LJP (Ram Vilas) Chief, who once likened himself to PM Modi's "Hanuman," has navigated significant internal challenges since his father's death in 2020, including a party split with uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras in 2021. While Paras's faction initially stayed with the NDA, Chirag contested independently in 2020 before triumphantly re-entering the alliance for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, securing all five seats his party fought. This resurgence underscores his strategic acumen and reinforces his pivotal role in Bihar's political landscape.
As the second phase of the 2025 Bihar assembly elections approaches, the NDA faces intense scrutiny in northern strongholds like East Champaran, West Champaran, Sheohar, and Sitamarhi, where it holds over 30 seats. The phase will also determine the electoral fate of 12 cabinet ministers, including key JD(U) and BJP figures such as Vijendra Yadav, Lesi Singh, Prem Kumar, and Renu Devi, making Paswan's unwavering NDA loyalty a crucial stabilizing factor amid high-stakes regional battles.
