Chirag Paswan Declares Bihar Govt Blueprint Will be Ready Soon

Chirag Paswan says the Bihar government formation blueprint is nearly ready as NDA allies plan next steps.

Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) Chief Chirag Paswan has provided a key update on the formation of the new Bihar government following the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) resounding victory in the state assembly elections, stating that the "blueprint" for the coalition's structure will be ready by today or tomorrow. Speaking to reporters in Patna on Sunday, Paswan emphasized that discussions among alliance partners are progressing swiftly, with a clear plan expected to emerge soon to ensure the swearing-in occurs before the current legislative assembly's term ends on November 22. This timeline aligns with the NDA's dominant performance, securing 202 of the 243 seats, including 89 for the BJP, 85 for Nitish Kumar's JD(U), 19 for LJP(RV), and smaller shares for allies like Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.

The urgency stems from the impending deadline, as Bihar's political landscape braces for another term under the NDA banner, with speculation centering on whether JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar will be sworn in as chief minister for a record tenth time. Paswan, who met Kumar at his residence on Saturday to congratulate him on the win, dismissed any delays, noting that he plans to consult senior Union ministers by evening to finalize details. "It will be done soon. Discussions are going on. A sense of clarity will come on the blueprint of the government," he said, underscoring the collaborative spirit within the alliance that propelled them to a three-fourths majority—echoing their 2010 triumph when they won 206 seats.

Power-sharing arrangements are at the forefront of these talks, with reports indicating that the BJP and JD(U) have already aligned on cabinet berths during a recent meeting between Kumar and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Paswan's LJP(RV) is poised to secure three ministerial positions, reflecting its strong showing in the polls, while Jitan Ram Manjhi's HAM(S) and Upendra Kushwaha's RLM are each expected to receive one. This distribution aims to balance caste equations and regional influences in Bihar, a state where coalition dynamics have historically shaped governance amid complex social demographics dominated by OBCs, EBCs, and Dalits.

The NDA's landslide has dealt a severe blow to the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan, which managed only 25 seats despite contesting over 140, exacerbating internal rifts within the opposition, including the recent Yadav family feud involving Rohini Acharya. Paswan, maintaining a conciliatory tone toward rivals, criticized the opposition for spreading "false narratives" during the campaign, particularly targeting LJP(RV) and JD(U). As Bihar transitions to its next administration, Paswan's assurance signals stability and continuity, potentially focusing on development agendas like infrastructure and employment to capitalize on the mandate. With the blueprint nearing completion, the oath-taking ceremony could unfold as early as mid-week, setting the stage for Bihar's political revival under NDA stewardship.
