Chirag Paswan Alleges Name Misuse, Files Complaint Against Swatantra Bharadwaj
Paswan alleges his name was misused and confirms filing a complaint.
Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party-Ram Vilas (LJP-RV) chief Chirag Paswan has filed an official complaint against right-wing influencer Swatantra Bharadwaj over the alleged misuse of his name in connection with a purported viral video. Bharadwaj allegedly claimed that he assaulted the father of student protester Nishu Azad during a recent demonstration at Jantar Mantar and referred to political connections in the context of police action.
Speaking to reporters in Patna, Paswan described the matter as extremely serious and called for a fair investigation. He maintained that meeting and interacting with people is part of political life but rejected any suggestion that Bharadwaj personally knows him. Paswan also objected to the use of his name and those of other politicians in connection with the allegations.
Paswan noted that he had approached the authorities after the allegations surfaced and urged the Delhi Police to investigate the matter impartially. He also expressed solidarity with Nishu Azad and her family, stressing that political associations should not be used to suggest that any individual can avoid legal action.

The development follows an agitation by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) outside the Parliament Street Police Station in New Delhi. The Delhi Police has reportedly assured protesters that action against Bharadwaj would be taken within 72 hours under provisions including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and attempted murder provisions.
Paswan maintained that he and his party would support the family and work to ensure that the facts emerge through a proper investigation. He also rejected allegations that his political support or that of other leaders had influenced the handling of the case, calling for accountability if the allegations against Bharadwaj are established. The LJP-RV chief also emphasised that the legal process must determine responsibility in the matter. He called for appropriate action against anyone found guilty and reiterated that political names or connections should not be used to undermine the functioning of the legal system.
