Case Filed Against Vijay, Security Over Madurai Rally

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and popular Tamil actor Vijay finds himself embroiled in controversy as a case has been filed against him and his security team for allegedly manhandling a supporter during a political rally in Madurai. The incident, which occurred on August 21, 2025, during a high-energy event in the lead-up to the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, has sparked outrage and drawn legal scrutiny.
The complainant, Sarath Kumar, alleges that he was roughly handled and pushed off a ramp by Vijay’s bouncers when he attempted to approach the actor-turned-politician for a closer look. A widely circulated video from the rally, shared by news agency ANI, captures the chaotic scene. The seven-minute clip shows Vijay walking down a ramp, flanked by security, as thousands of enthusiastic supporters cheer from both sides. Early in the footage, a man is seen being forcefully thrown off the elevated platform, which stands at least seven feet high. As Vijay proceeds, several fans climb onto the ramp to greet him, only to be swiftly pushed back by bouncers.
Sarath Kumar filed a complaint at Perambalur police station on August 26, accusing Vijay and his security team of manhandling him. The police have registered a case under sections 189(2), 296(B), and 115(I) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which cover charges of unlawful assembly and abetment of serious offenses. The allegations have cast a shadow over Vijay’s burgeoning political career, as his TVK party seeks to establish a strong foothold in Tamil Nadu’s competitive political landscape.
