Bypoll Results 2025: Know When And Where To Watch Live Counting For Eight Key Assembly Seats

Results for eight by-elections across six states and one Union Territory will be declared on November 14.

As political parties await the crucial outcome of eight assembly by-elections held across India, the Election Commission of India will announce the results on Friday, November 14. The counting of votes is set to begin at 8 a.m., with real-time updates available on the Election Commission’s official website at results.eci.gov.in. Live updates and constituency-level data can also be accessed through the ECI's official mobile application. Most national and regional news channels, will provide continuous live coverage, expert analysis, and real-time updates on their TV broadcasts and official websites/YouTube channels. These bypolls, spread across six states and one Union Territory, are seen as a political litmus test ahead of the next round of state and national elections.

The constituencies that went to the polls on November 11 include Anta in Rajasthan, Budgam and Nagrota in Jammu and Kashmir, Dampa in Mizoram, Ghatsila in Jharkhand, Tarn Taran in Punjab, Jubilee Hills in Telangana, and Nuapada in Odisha. Each seat witnessed multi-cornered contests, with ruling and opposition parties looking to assert their strength in the run-up to the 2026 political season. The by-elections were necessitated by resignations, disqualifications, or the deaths of sitting MLAs.

In Telangana, Jubilee Hills saw a high-stakes contest following the death of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Maganti Gopinath. His wife, Maganti Sunitha, is contesting from BRS against Congress candidate Naveen Yadav, who is backed by AIMIM, marking the first major electoral challenge for Telangana’s Revanth Reddy-led Congress government. In Odisha’s Nuapada constituency, the battle is between BJD’s Snehangini Chhuria, BJP’s Jay Dholakia, and Congress veteran Ghasiram Majhi, following the death of sitting BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the twin bypolls in Budgam and Nagrota have drawn intense attention. Budgam fell vacant after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah retained his Ganderbal seat, while Nagrota is witnessing a contest between BJP candidate Devyani Rana—daughter of late MLA Devender Singh Rana—and National Conference’s Shamim Begum. Political analysts view these J&K bypolls as an early test of voter sentiment in the post-Article 370 political landscape.

Elsewhere, Rajasthan’s Anta, vacated after the disqualification of BJP MLA Kanwar Lal Meena, is witnessing a triangular fight between BJP’s Morpal Suman, Congress’s Pramod Jain, and independent candidate Naresh Meena. Punjab’s Tarn Taran constituency, left vacant after the death of AAP MLA Kashmir Singh Sohal, has become a four-way contest involving AAP, Congress, BJP, and Shiromani Akali Dal. In Jharkhand, Ghatsila is poised for a close battle as JMM’s Somesh Soren, son of late minister Ramdas Soren, faces NDA candidate Babulal Soren. Meanwhile, in Mizoram’s Dampa, Congress’s John Rotluangliana, MNF’s R Lalthangliana, and BJP’s Lalhmingthanga are vying for dominance.

With results expected on November 14, the outcomes of these bypolls will serve as a barometer of voter mood across diverse regions—from Jammu and Kashmir’s political resurgence to Telangana’s newly formed government—and may offer crucial insights into the shifting electoral landscape ahead of 2026.
