BRS Silence on Mallanna’s Remarks Against Kavitha Ignites Telangana Political Firestorm

BRS mum as Mallanna’s remarks spark chaos!

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party’s silence on derogatory remarks made by suspended Congress MLC Teenmaar Mallanna against BRS MLC K Kavitha, daughter of former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, has fueled intense political debate in Telangana. The controversy escalated on Sunday when Telangana Jagruthi activists, led by Kavitha, stormed Mallanna’s Q News office in Medipally, protesting his comments. The situation turned violent, with Mallanna’s gunman firing warning shots to disperse the crowd, prompting police investigations into both the remarks and the attack.

Kavitha, who demanded Mallanna’s suspension and arrest, criticized the Congress government’s inaction, questioning Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s silence. “Telangana respects women, but such remarks threaten women in politics,” she said, lodging complaints with the Legislative Council Chairman and police. Congress leaders, including TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud and Transport Minister Ponnal Prabhakar, condemned Mallanna’s comments as disrespectful, while also denouncing the office attack as unlawful.

BRS’s lack of an official response has raised eyebrows, with Kavitha deflecting questions about the party’s stance, saying, “It’s up to them to react.” A senior BRS leader hinted at internal rifts, noting differences between Kavitha and party leadership, possibly explaining the silence. Tensions within BRS surfaced earlier when Kavitha criticized internal “conspiracies” after a leaked letter to her father, KCR, and has since focused on agitations through Telangana Jagruthi.
