BJP Promotes Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan Ahead Of PM Modi’s Birthday

BJP plans nationwide village outreach ahead of PM Modi’s birthday.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday announced a month-long nationwide campaign, ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan’, to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17 and the completion of 25 years of his public service. The campaign will run from September 17 to October 7 and will involve various organisations associated with the party through programmes, outreach activities and rallies.

A key component of the campaign will be the ‘Seva Yatra’, which is planned to run for 20 days and cover nearly 40 km while reaching around 1,159 villages. BJP National Coordinator V.D. Sharma said the yatra would focus on connecting with people through the theme of service. Seva Yatris will be organised into groups of 25, with 250 such groups formed for the initiative, while 10 groups are scheduled to begin their journey from Kashi in Uttar Pradesh.

Sharma said the inauguration of the campaign will be attended by several senior BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Prime Minister Modi is also expected to attend the inaugural programme, along with chief ministers and deputy chief ministers from BJP-ruled states and other party leaders. The campaign is intended to combine public outreach with activities centred on service and community engagement.

According to Sharma, the Seva Yatra will include interactions and discussions with young people as well as cleanliness drives in villages along its route. Tree plantation activities will also be organised under the ‘Seva Vatika’ programme. The BJP said these initiatives would form part of its broader effort to engage communities and promote social service during the campaign period.

In Jammu and Kashmir, BJP MP Sat Sharma said the party has planned a programme under which at least 75 diyas will be lit at every booth as part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan’. He also spoke about changes in the region following the abrogation of Article 370 and expressed hope that Jammu and Kashmir would continue to move in the same direction.

BJP Yuva Morcha National President Hemang Joshi said the Seva Yatra should not be viewed as a promotional campaign. He said its purpose was to communicate information about government policies to rural citizens and encourage young people to participate in community activities. Joshi appealed to youth to join the initiative, stressing its stated focus on public service and rural outreach.
