BJP Links Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Vote Chori’ Files to Foreign System Set in Myanmar Timezone

BJP claims campaign materials point to foreign creation outside India.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has leveled serious allegations against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, claiming that the "script and dialogue" of his recent "vote chori" (vote theft) campaign were crafted abroad. The ruling party asserts that evidence points to foreign interference in India’s democracy, specifically linking the campaign’s materials to a system operating in Myanmar’s timezone.

On August 7, 2025, Rahul Gandhi held a press conference accusing the BJP and the Election Commission of vote theft, supported by a power-point presentation uploaded in English, Hindi, and Kannada on his website, RahulGandhi.in. BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari, in a post on X, revealed what he described as “shocking facts” about the metadata of these PDFs, which allegedly indicates they were created on a system set to Myanmar’s timezone. “These so-called ‘evidence’ (of vote chori) weren’t made in India,” Bhandari stated, branding Gandhi’s campaign an “International ‘Vote Theft Toolkit’.”

Fellow BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla echoed these claims, asserting that Gandhi’s reliance on foreign sources is evident and that the “technical proof” of the presentation’s foreign origin is “undeniable.” Poonawalla accused Gandhi of acting as a “puppet” for foreign entities aiming to interfere with India’s democratic processes, questioning, “Aren’t you carrying forward the agenda of ‘interfere with Bharat’s democracy’ playing at some foreign hands?” He demanded that Gandhi disclose who is behind the alleged foreign scripting of his campaign.

As of now, neither Rahul Gandhi nor the Congress party has responded to these allegations. The claims have sparked intense debate, with the BJP framing Gandhi’s campaign as part of a broader foreign agenda, while the lack of a rebuttal from Congress leaves the controversy open to further scrutiny. The allegations underscore ongoing tensions between the ruling party and the opposition, raising questions about the integrity of political narratives in India’s democratic landscape.
