BJP Exposes Congress' 'Vote Chori Mafia' in Karnataka

Karnataka BJP slams Congress after MLA's election overturned.

In a blistering attack on the ruling Congress party, Karnataka BJP leader R Ashoka has branded them as the 'Vote Chori Mafia' following the Karnataka High Court's decision to nullify the election victory of Congress MLA K Y Nanjegowda from the Malur constituency.

The court's ruling, delivered on Tuesday, came in response to a petition by defeated BJP candidate K S Manjunath Gowda, who alleged irregularities in the May 2023 Assembly polls. The bench has ordered the Election Commission to conduct a vote recount within four weeks and declare fresh results, though the order is currently stayed for 30 days pending a possible Supreme Court appeal by Nanjegowda.

Ashoka, the Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, took to X to unleash his fury. "Congress = Vote Chori Mafia. From Ballari to Malur, one pattern never changes - Rig the booth, steal the vote, murder democracy," he posted. He further lambasted Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and Deputy CM D K Shivakumar, accusing them of hypocrisy.

"Rahul Gandhi does drama about 'Save Democracy' while Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar run the Vote Chori Mafia in Karnataka. The High Court has now nailed their Malur MLA’s stolen victory. Congress’ mask of morality is in tatters. Karnataka will soon show this Mafia the door!"

This controversy echoes broader accusations of electoral malpractices leveled by Congress against the BJP and the Election Commission. Rahul Gandhi has previously claimed that elections are being "stolen" across India, citing a detailed study of a Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka as evidence of a systematic "vote theft" modus operandi, particularly amid disputes over electoral roll revisions in Bihar.

The ongoing saga in Malur highlights the deepening political rift in Karnataka, where accusations of booth rigging and vote manipulation have become a flashpoint, potentially reshaping the state's political landscape ahead of future elections.
