BJP Backs Kerala Catholic Body’s Call for Youth in Politics, Echoes Modi’s Vision
BJP hails KCBC’s appeal for Christian youth to join mainstream politics, aligning it with PM Modi’s push for young, performance-driven leaders.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kerala welcomed the Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC) Youth Commission’s appeal urging Christian youth to engage in mainstream politics, calling it a step toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of involving one lakh talented youth in performance-driven governance.
In a post on X, BJP state chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar emphasized the need for “visionary young leaders” to drive “Vikasita Keralam” (Developed Kerala). “We warmly welcome youth aspiring to contribute to nation-building. This aligns with PM Modi’s vision,” he said, endorsing the KCBC’s call for young Christians with leadership skills to address societal challenges through political participation.
The KCBC Youth Commission, led by chairperson Christudas R, issued the appeal on July 6, 2025, during Youth Day, highlighting the “chaotic and confusing” political landscape and urging youth not to distance themselves from it. The circular, read across Catholic churches during Sunday Mass, stressed that new-generation leaders with knowledge and critical thinking are vital for tackling social issues.

The KCBC’s move comes amid Kerala’s evolving political dynamics, where the BJP is seeking to expand its influence in a state traditionally dominated by the LDF and UDF. Political analysts see the endorsement as a strategic alignment to attract young, diverse voters, with the BJP framing it as part of Modi’s broader nation-building agenda.
