#BiharResults: Nitish Kumar Thanks PM Modi, Allies as NDA Scores Huge Bihar Victory
Nitish Kumar thanked PM Modi and allies as NDA secured a sweeping victory in the Bihar elections.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on November 14, 2025, extended heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and NDA allies for their unwavering support as the alliance stormed to a historic landslide in the state assembly elections, securing over 200 of the 243 seats. Addressing media shortly after trends confirmed the NDA's dominance, the Janata Dal (United) supremo—poised for a record fifth term—specifically thanked Modi for his guidance and the BJP's organisational muscle, which propelled the coalition to a vote share exceeding 48%. "I express my heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji for the support received from him," Kumar stated, acknowledging the central leadership's role in unifying the alliance amid a high-decibel campaign focused on development, women's empowerment, and social justice. The victory, with JD(U) projected at 81 seats and BJP at 91, marks a resounding rebound for Nitish from his 2020 tally of 43 seats, bolstered by a record female turnout of 71.78%.
The NDA's sweep, crossing the majority mark within hours of counting, drew jubilant responses across the coalition, with Kumar also commending Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and other senior leaders for their strategic inputs and ground-level mobilisation. Celebrations erupted at JD(U) and BJP offices in Patna, where workers distributed sweets and chanted slogans hailing the "double-engine sarkar". Kumar's remarks underscored the alliance's cohesion, particularly crediting allies like Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), which led in 19-21 seats, and Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustani Awam Morcha for consolidating backward and Dalit votes. This triumph follows a contentious election marred by opposition claims over the Special Intensive Revision of voter rolls, yet it delivered a clear pro-incumbency mandate amid a historic 67.13% turnout in the November 6 and 11 polls.
In contrast, the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal-led Mahagathbandhan crumbled to around 37 seats, with RJD managing 31-36 and Congress reduced to single digits, prompting introspection within the bloc. Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party failed to open its account despite contesting all seats. Kumar's gratitude to Modi highlights the deepening BJP-JD(U) synergy, especially after Nitish's return to the NDA in 2024, positioning Bihar as a model for alliance governance. As the chief minister prepares to stake claim for government formation, his acknowledgements signal continuity in welfare schemes and infrastructure push under Modi's vision.

With the NDA's Bihar fortress reinforced, Kumar's leadership now eyes accelerated development, including industrial corridors and rural electrification, to fulfil the "Developed Bihar" promise. The verdict not only cements Nitish's legacy as the state's longest-serving CM but also boosts national momentum for the BJP ahead of upcoming polls, affirming performance politics over dynastic or caste-based appeals
