#BiharResults: PM Modi, Amit Shah Declare Triumph of Good Governance as NDA Dominates Bihar

NDA secures historic Bihar win as Modi and Shah hail mandate and Nitish readies for fifth term.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 14, 2025, celebrated the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) landslide victory in the Bihar Assembly elections as a "victory of good governance, development, the spirit of public welfare, and social justice." In a post on X, Modi expressed profound gratitude to Bihar's voters for granting the NDA a historic mandate in the 243-member house, crossing the 200-seat mark and securing over 48% vote share, mirroring its strong showing in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

The triumph, propelled by themes of 'sushasan' (good governance) and inclusive growth, ensures Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's return for a record fifth term, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerging as the single-largest party with around 91 seats, followed by JD(U) at 81. This resounding endorsement comes after a two-phase election on November 6 and 11, marked by a record 67.13% turnout, where women voters outnumbered men at 71.78% participation, significantly boosting the NDA's women-centric welfare initiatives.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah echoed the jubilation, framing the win as the "victory of every Bihari who believes in 'Developed Bihar'" and a rejection of "jungle raj and appeasement politics." In his X post, Shah congratulated Modiji and Nitish Kumar, praising BJP workers from booth to state level for their tireless efforts, and assured the people—especially women and mothers—that the NDA would fulfill its promises with renewed dedication under Modi's leadership.

The coalition's unity, including allies like Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) with 19-21 seats and Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustani Awam Morcha, contrasted sharply with the opposition's disarray, as Shah highlighted the shift toward a "politics of performance." Celebrations erupted at NDA headquarters in Patna and Delhi, with leaders like Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adhikari and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan attributing the sweep to the "double-engine government's" development track record.

The opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal-led Mahagathbandhan suffered a crushing rout, leading in just 37 seats collectively, with RJD managing 31-36 despite Tejashwi Yadav's personal win in Raghopur by over 11,000 votes. The Congress secured one win and leads in four of 61 contested seats, while Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party drew a blank in its debut across 243 constituencies, polling fewer votes than NOTA. The Bloc's vote share dipped nearly 3% to 36.9% from 2024, fragmented by caste dynamics, economic concerns, and the NDA's consolidation in strongholds like Seemanchal and Shahabad. A contentious Special Intensive Revision of voter rolls prior to polling, which faced opposition allegations of disenfranchisement, ultimately did little to alter the pro-incumbency wave.

As Nitish Kumar prepares to lead Bihar toward greater development, the verdict reinforces the NDA's dominance in eastern India, setting the stage for accelerated infrastructure, social justice programs, and women's empowerment schemes. With eyes on upcoming polls in states like West Bengal, the Bihar outcome signals a broader national endorsement of Modi's vision, promising sustained momentum for the alliance amid evolving regional politics.
