#BiharPolls: ‘Aren’t They Dancers Too?’ Rohini Acharya Fires Back at BJP
Lalu’s daughter hits back at “nachaniya” jibe.
Rohini Acharya, elder daughter of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, fired a sharp counterattack after BJP mocked her party’s Chapra candidate, Bhojpuri superstar Khesari Lal Yadav, as a “nachaniya” unfit for politics. The jibe followed RJD’s announcement of Khesari’s candidacy for the November 6 polls, with BJP leaders dismissing his film fame as mere entertainment. Acharya swiftly retaliated, naming BJP’s own celebrity MPs: “Manoj Tiwari, Ravi Kishan, Hema Malini, Kangana Ranaut—aren’t they dancers too?”
The exchange has escalated Bihar’s election rhetoric, with both sides accusing each other of lowering discourse. BJP defended the remark as banter, while RJD called it an insult to Bhojpuri culture and working-class icons. Social media exploded with memes, pushing #NachaniyaPolitics to statewide trends and drawing national attention to the celebrity-fueled war of words.
A Singapore-based doctor who donated a kidney to Lalu in 2021, Rohini denies political ambitions despite contesting Saran in 2024 Lok Sabha polls, where she lost to BJP’s Rajiv Pratap Rudy. Four of Lalu’s children remain active in politics—Misa Bharti, Tejashwi, Tej Pratap, and Raj Lakshmi—yet Rohini has hinted at unease over Tejashwi’s clear inheritance of the RJD mantle.

Khesari Lal Yadav joined RJD recently, vowing to help “brother” Tejashwi secure a second term for Bihar’s development. “I want our children to have good schools and hospitals here—no need to migrate,” he said. His entry, despite earlier praise for PM Modi, is seen as a strategic boost for RJD’s rural outreach.
With Bihar voting on November 6 and 11, and counting on November 14, the “dancer” row highlights the clash between BJP’s governance pitch and RJD’s star power and caste mobilization. The Election Commission has warned against derogatory language amid rising poll tensions.
