'Bihar Freed Itself from Jungle Raj in 2005’: PM Modi Rallies Support for NDA under Nitish Kumar
PM Modi accuses Congress of misleading people at Bihar rally.
In a fiery speech at a Samastipur rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of deceiving people by brandishing the Constitution. Kicking off his Bihar election campaign, Modi reiterated his "jungle raj" critique of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), urging voters to reject them in favor of the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) good governance under Nitish Kumar.
Reflecting on Bihar’s political history, Modi said, “In October 2005, Bihar freed itself from ‘jungle raj’ and embraced NDA’s governance under Nitish Kumar. But the Congress-RJD coalition at the Centre created hurdles, with RJD retaliating against Bihar’s people, even threatening to withdraw support from Congress if they aided the NDA government here.”
Modi also referenced his recent claims, labeling the opposition as a “lathbandhan” of corrupt leaders out on bail. He expressed unwavering confidence in the NDA’s prospects, predicting a historic mandate. “From Maharashtra to Haryana, Madhya Pradesh to Gujarat, the NDA has consistently won bigger mandates for its focus on governance and development. Under Nitish Kumar, Bihar will break records with the NDA’s largest victory yet,” he declared.

Paying homage to Bharat Ratna awardee Karpoori Thakur in his hometown, Modi accused the opposition of attempting to co-opt Thakur’s legacy. “I visited Karpuri Gram to honor Jannayak Karpoori Thakur, whose blessings have enabled leaders like Nitish Kumar and me, from humble and backward communities, to serve. The RJD and Congress, mired in corruption, are now trying to steal his title. Bihar will never allow this,” he asserted.
Modi’s rally underscored his belief that Bihar’s voters will prioritize development and reject the opposition’s alleged misdeeds, ensuring the NDA’s continued dominance.
