Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary To Move Trust Vote Motion In Assembly
Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary to seek trust vote today as NDA government tests its majority in Assembly.
The Bihar Legislative Assembly is set to hold a crucial vote of confidence on Friday, marking an important early test for the newly formed government. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary will move the trust motion in a special one-day session of the House. The motion seeks formal approval from the Assembly for the continuation of the current council of ministers. The proceedings are expected to reaffirm the stability of the ruling coalition.
According to the official legislative business schedule released by the Assembly secretariat, the session will focus primarily on the confidence motion. The Chief Minister’s proposal will state that the House should “repose its trust in the current council of ministers in the state.” Lawmakers from the ruling coalition are expected to participate actively in the debate before voting takes place. The outcome will formally validate the new government’s mandate.
Choudhary took charge as Chief Minister earlier this month after a major political transition in the state. His appointment followed the resignation of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who stepped down after being elected to the Rajya Sabha. His elevation also marked the first time a BJP leader has headed the government in Bihar. The development signaled a significant shift in the state’s political leadership structure.

The current cabinet has limited representation from the Janata Dal (United), with senior leaders Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav serving as deputy chief ministers. Ahead of the trust vote, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said the new government enjoys full backing from the JD(U) leadership. He also said the administration would continue following the governance model established during Nitish Kumar’s long tenure. Confidence remains high within the ruling camp about the outcome.
The government is supported by a broad National Democratic Alliance (NDA) coalition in the state. This includes the BJP, JD(U), Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM, and Upendra Kushwaha’s RLM. The alliance had secured 202 seats in the 243-member Assembly in the previous elections held in November. With a strong numerical majority, the trust vote is widely expected to pass without major resistance.
