Bhagwant Mann Declares Arvind Kejriwal Liquor Case "Political With No Basis"
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann terms liquor policy case against Arvind Kejriwal political and baseless after Delhi court discharge.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday strongly defended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal, calling the political controversy surrounding him “entirely baseless” following a clean chit in a recent legal matter. Mann described the case as politically motivated and emphasized that there was no factual or legal basis to the allegations. He said the exoneration reinforced Kejriwal’s credibility and the party’s commitment to transparent governance.
Addressing the media, Mann stated that attempts to politicize Kejriwal’s legal situation were aimed at undermining public trust in the AAP government. He pointed out that legal authorities had conducted a thorough examination and found no wrongdoing, proving that the allegations were unfounded. According to Mann, this outcome serves as a clear vindication not only of Kejriwal’s personal integrity but also of the party’s broader approach to governance, which prioritizes honesty, accountability, and service delivery.
Mann highlighted Kejriwal’s track record of anti-corruption initiatives and public welfare measures as evidence of his commitment to clean politics. He said the allegations were part of a pattern of politically motivated attacks faced by the party in various states, often timed to influence public perception and electoral outcomes. Mann urged political opponents to focus on constructive policy debates rather than resorting to unverified claims and sensationalism.

The Chief Minister also underscored the potential harm caused by such frivolous cases, noting that they divert attention from pressing issues such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure development in Punjab. Mann argued that while AAP remains committed to upholding democratic and legal processes, parties attempting to politicize the judiciary are engaging in tactics that ultimately harm the public interest.
Political analysts have noted that Mann’s forceful defense of Kejriwal is part of AAP’s broader strategy to consolidate its image as a party rooted in honesty and accountability. By publicly supporting Kejriwal, Mann aims to reassure both party supporters and the electorate that the leadership remains committed to integrity and transparency, even in the face of politically motivated attacks.
Concluding his remarks, Mann called on party workers and citizens to view the clean chit as confirmation that truth and transparency prevail over misinformation and political maneuvering. He reaffirmed confidence in Kejriwal’s leadership and encouraged all stakeholders to prioritize governance and public welfare over political controversy. Mann’s statement reflects AAP’s continuing efforts to position itself as a disciplined, corruption-free alternative in India’s increasingly competitive political landscape.
