Arvind Kejriwal Finally Moves Into Spacious Lutyens’ Bungalow After Year of Uncertainty
Arvind Kejriwal gets a plush Type-VII Lutyens’ bungalow at 95 Lodhi Estate after a year-long wait.
Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national president Arvind Kejriwal has been allotted a prestigious Type-VII bungalow at 95 Lodhi Estate in New Delhi, marking the end of nearly a year of uncertainty over his official accommodation. The allocation, formalized on October 6, 2025, follows legal proceedings in the Delhi High Court where Kejriwal sought suitable housing entitlements as the leader of a recognized national political party. This development comes after his resignation from the Chief Minister's post on September 17, 2024, and the subsequent vacation of his official residence at 6 Flagstaff Road on November 4, 2024. Kejriwal inspected the property on the same day the government notified him, and he is expected to occupy it soon.
The request for accommodation had initially targeted 35 Lodhi Estate, a bungalow previously occupied by BSP leader Mayawati, but that property was already allotted in July 2025 to Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary. The Centre had assured the Delhi High Court earlier that Kejriwal would receive official housing within ten days, in line with provisions for presidents of national parties. During the interim period, Kejriwal resided temporarily at the home of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal at 5 Ferozeshah Road in Punjab. This new allotment resolves the prolonged housing limbo, allowing Kejriwal to establish a stable base for his political activities.
The Type-VII bungalow at 95 Lodhi Estate spans approximately 5,000 square feet and exemplifies the opulent Lutyens' Delhi architecture reserved for high-profile dignitaries. It features four spacious bedrooms, expansive front and side lawns ideal for private gatherings, a multi-car garage, three servant quarters, and a dedicated office space for official meetings and party work. The property's central location in the secure Lodhi Estate enclave enhances its prestige, surrounded by manicured gardens and proximity to key government institutions.

Kejriwal's new neighbors add an intriguing political dimension to the allotment: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor resides at 97 Lodhi Estate, while Army officials occupy 94 and 96. Nearby, RJD MP Misa Bharti and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra hold bungalows 82 and 81, respectively, creating a vibrant enclave of political and official residences. This positioning not only underscores the area's exclusivity but also facilitates networking opportunities for Kejriwal amid AAP's ongoing national expansion efforts.
The allocation reaffirms the government's adherence to housing entitlements for national party leaders, providing Kejriwal with a secure and functional residence to resume his political engagements. As AAP gears up for future electoral battles, this stability is poised to bolster the party's organizational strength and Kejriwal's leadership visibility.
