Amit Shah Launches Election Rally in Assam, Promises Action Against Infiltration

Amit Shah pledges BJP will remove infiltrators, protect Assam’s land, cultural identity, and local economic interests.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Congress party during a massive election rally in Patharkandi, Sribhumi district, asserting that only the BJP can protect Assam from illegal infiltration and preserve its cultural identity. Speaking to a large crowd, Shah claimed that the BJP government had already identified infiltrators and promised they would be “removed one by one” if the party returned to power.

Shah alleged that illegal migrants were taking away jobs, ration benefits, and wages meant for local youth, poor families, and tea garden workers. He added that with BJP-NDA governments in Assam, West Bengal, and Tripura, infiltration would be completely stopped, positioning the party as the sole guardian of the state’s security and welfare.

Targeting Congress, Shah accused the party of indulging in “vote bank politics” by supporting infiltrators. He criticised past Congress governments for weakening legal safeguards, citing the scrapping of the Immigrants (Expulsion from Assam) Act of 1950 and the introduction of the IMDT Act in 1983, which he said provided shelter to illegal migrants. He also defended the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) as necessary to protect persecuted minorities.

The Home Minister further vowed to rename Karimganj as “Sribhumi,” linking the district to Assam’s cultural heritage. He also took a personal dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, asserting that under his leadership, the party had declined in public discourse and would not be allowed to turn Assam into an “infiltration-prone state.”

Shah accused Congress leaders of insulting BJP supporters and the state of Gujarat, describing such remarks as contrary to democratic values. He emphasised that the BJP remained committed to protecting Assam’s land, identity, and economic interests, urging voters to reject what he called Congress’ divisive and appeasement-driven politics.

Concluding his speech, Amit Shah predicted that Assam was set to grant the BJP a landslide victory, framing the upcoming polls as a decisive battle to root out infiltration and secure the state’s future.
