Amit Shah Directs BJP to Stay Alert on Electoral Roll Revision in Bengal

Home Minister intensifies BJP's crucial election strategy in Kolkata.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah landed in Kolkata on Monday evening to embark on a pivotal three-day visit dedicated to meticulously assessing and bolstering the Bharatiya Janata Party's organisational readiness and strategic framework ahead of the high-stakes West Bengal Assembly elections anticipated in April-May of the forthcoming year.

Immediately after touchdown, Shah conveyed his optimism through a post on X, highlighting the enthusiastic welcome extended by party workers at the airport and affirming that the people of Bengal are unequivocally primed for substantial political change, before heading straight to the state BJP headquarters for an in-depth two-hour consultative session with key functionaries.

During the meeting, sources disclosed that the Home Minister delved into detailed discussions on comprehensive poll strategies, innovative social media campaigns, and core thematic issues identified by the party's central leadership as essential focal points, while posing incisive queries regarding the planning and execution of large-scale roadshows and public rallies across constituencies.

The Minister also issued firm instructions to the state unit to maintain heightened vigilance throughout the ongoing second phase of the highly controversial Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, an Election Commission initiative that has ignited widespread accusations from opposition ranks of being engineered to systematically disenfranchise genuine voters in targeted demographic segments.

In the coming days, Amit Shah is slated to engage in extensive closed-door interactions with BJP Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, municipal corporation leaders, and prominent figures from the Bengal chapter of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, complemented by a scheduled devotional visit to the revered Thanthania Kali Bari Temple situated in the heart of central Kolkata.
