Akhilesh Yadav Seeks Investigation Into Calls Of Ayodhya Ram Temple Workers

Akhilesh Yadav seeks call record probe of temple employees.

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday demanded an investigation into the call detail records (CDRs) of all people employed at the Ram temple complex in Ayodhya, alleging that a majority of them had links with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). His remarks came amid a political controversy over allegations related to the handling of donations at the temple. Speaking to reporters in Lucknow, Yadav claimed that scrutiny of the call records of temple employees would reveal that “99.9 per cent” of them were associated with the BJP.

He alleged that such findings would create “turmoil” within the ruling party and said several people had already started reaching out to his party. The SP leader’s comments came while referring to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into allegations of irregularities in the management of donations and offerings received at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Yadav said the issue had become a topic of discussion among people across the country and demanded a detailed investigation into those involved in temple operations.

“All the call detail records of those who were working in the temple complex should be examined,” Yadav said, alleging that the findings would expose political connections among those responsible for temple-related activities. He claimed that people who had been assigned responsibilities at the temple were now facing questions over the controversy. Yadav also accused the BJP of prioritising electoral interests over religious values.  He alleged that the party changes its position according to political requirements and claimed that financial considerations had taken precedence over religious principles.

“The BJP changes its ideas for votes. For them, money is more important than religion. We have seen what has happened in Ayodhya,” Yadav said. He questioned the role of those who assigned responsibilities at the temple and asked why they were not addressing the allegations. The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister further claimed that devotees of Sanatan Dharma across the world were concerned about the controversy. He said Lord Ram is regarded as an example of moral conduct and discipline, but alleged that the BJP had used religious sentiments for political purposes. Yadav’s remarks came amid an ongoing political debate over the allegations surrounding the management of temple donations.

The Ram temple in Ayodhya, built at the site associated with Lord Ram’s birthplace, has been a major religious and political issue in India for decades. The BJP and temple authorities have previously rejected allegations of wrongdoing and maintained that temple administration follows established procedures. The investigation into the donation-related allegations is expected to determine the facts of the matter. The latest statements from Yadav have intensified the political exchange between the SP and BJP, with both parties continuing to accuse each other over issues involving religion, governance and accountability.
