Akali Dal Announces Campaign Calendar For Punjab 2027 Assembly Elections
Akali Dal announces a structured campaign ahead of Punjab elections.
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has announced an intensive campaign programme for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, with party president Sukhbir Singh Badal set to launch a door-to-door outreach drive on October 6. The campaign will begin from Attari and be conducted simultaneously across all 117 Assembly constituencies, with the party seeking public suggestions for its election manifesto. The programme is scheduled to continue until October 25.
The party has fixed November 1 for the release of its election manifesto. SAD leaders said the door-to-door exercise would help gather suggestions from voters for the document. The party has also been conducting organisational and constituency-level activities ahead of the 2027 polls, with issues including drugs, farming, unemployment, law and order, river waters and development forming part of its political outreach.
Another major component of the campaign will be a statewide bus yatra led by Sukhbir Badal, beginning from Talwandi Sabo on November 10. According to senior SAD functionary Daljit Singh Cheema, the programme will be organised as a mass-contact exercise, with Badal scheduled to cover two to three Assembly constituencies each day. The announcement places the party's statewide outreach on a fixed schedule several months ahead of the 2027 election.

The party has also scheduled a women-led anti-drug campaign. Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal will launch its second phase from Sri Muktsar Sahib on October 5 under the slogan "Maawan-Dheeyan di Lalkaar, Band Karo Nasha da Vyapar". The SAD said the campaign would involve household-level outreach across Punjab and form part of its broader constituency mobilisation ahead of the Assembly elections.
The SAD has further announced a major public rally at Killi Chahlan village in Moga on December 8 to mark the birth anniversary of former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. The campaign decisions were taken at a meeting of the party's constituency in-charges and observers chaired by Sukhbir Badal. The party has also announced a 10-member lawyers' committee to monitor what it described as false or defamatory content concerning the party and its leaders in the media and on social media platforms.
