Ajit Pawar Slams NCP Workers Over Misconduct: "Such Acts Tarnish Our Image"

maharashtra deputy cm ajit pawar urges ncp workers to uphold party values amid recent controversies.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Ajit Pawar issued a stern warning to party workers on Friday, urging them to refrain from misconduct that damages both their personal reputation and the party’s image. Speaking at a gathering in Pune, Pawar addressed recent incidents involving NCP members that have sparked public outrage.

The admonition follows two high-profile controversies. In one, the brother of an NCP MLA allegedly fired a gun at a cultural event in Chaufula, a village in Daund tehsil known for its lavani and tamasha performances. “Avoid reckless behavior like firing in the air at places like Chaufula,” Pawar stated. “Such actions bring disrepute to both the individual and the NCP.”

Pawar also addressed the tragic case of Vaishnavi Hagawane, a 26-year-old who allegedly died by suicide on May 16 in Bavdhan, Pimpri-Chinchwad. Her in-laws, including expelled NCP leader Rajendra Hagawane, face allegations of harassing her over dowry demands, reportedly including Rs 2 crore for land. Pawar, who attended the couple’s lavish 2023 wedding, remarked, “Had I known of their actions, I would not have been there.”

Emphasizing communal harmony, Pawar urged workers to follow the principles of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, Mahatma Phule, and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. “Our party stands for integrity and unity. Let your actions reflect these values,” he said, reinforcing the NCP’s commitment to ethical conduct amid ongoing scrutiny.
