AISA Backs CJP's Sept 5 Delhi March, Seeks FIR Withdrawal, Pellet Probe

The All India Students’ Association (AISA) has extended its support to the Cockroach Janta Party’s proposed protest march in Delhi on September 5. The mobilisation is centred on demands for the withdrawal of FIRs registered against students and an investigation into allegations of pellet and bullet firing during earlier demonstrations. AISA said the concerns that triggered the youth-led protests remain unresolved, with several students continuing to face cases despite an earlier government commitment to withdraw them.

AISA national president Neha Bora said the continuation of cases against students was among the reasons for supporting the upcoming protest. Speaking on Wednesday, August 26, she said the issues that had prompted the youth mobilisation had not been adequately addressed. According to Bora, students are still facing pending legal proceedings, raising questions about the implementation of the government’s earlier assurance regarding withdrawal of the cases.

The organisation has also raised concerns over the alleged use of pellets and bullets during previous demonstrations. AISA is seeking an independent inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the alleged firing, including the events that led to the use of such force. The demand for a probe is expected to form an important part of the issues highlighted during the September 5 mobilisation.

The proposed march comes amid continuing demands from student and youth groups for action on cases arising from earlier protests. The alleged firing during earlier demonstrations has added another dimension to the protest demands.
