AIADMK Denies Alliance Talks with Actor Vijay’s TVK, Calls Rumors Baseless

AIADMK confirms no contact with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday categorically denied reports suggesting alliance negotiations with actor Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). Speaking to reporters in Kappalur near Madurai, he emphasized that neither his party nor TVK has initiated any formal or informal discussions. “These rumors are entirely baseless and have been amplified by certain media outlets. We bear no responsibility for such misinformation,” Palaniswami stated firmly, aiming to put an end to weeks of speculative coverage.

The speculation arose from his recent campaign remarks in Kumarapalayam, where TVK flags were prominently displayed by local supporters. Palaniswami had acknowledged the enthusiasm, noting that AIADMK cadres had long built strong grassroots foundations in the region. However, he clarified that such observations were misconstrued as hints of political alignment. “Only the party’s central leadership can authorize alliance decisions. Cadre actions or flag displays do not reflect official policy,” he explained, underscoring the need for disciplined communication ahead of the 2026 assembly polls.

Shifting focus to governance failures, Palaniswami launched a sharp critique of the ruling DMK’s handling of agricultural procurement. He pointed to the food minister’s assembly claim of procuring 2,000 paddy bags daily, contrasting it with on-ground realities observed during his October 20 tour of the Cauvery delta. “Procurement centers were nearly idle, leaving farmers stranded with unsold produce. This betrayal during harvest season exposes the government’s indifference,” he charged, calling for immediate corrective measures and transparency in official data.

Palaniswami also expressed strong support for the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process across all 234 constituencies in Tamil Nadu. He alleged widespread irregularities in voter lists, including the retention of 8,000 to 10,000 deceased voters per constituency. “The DMK’s discomfort with SIR stems from fear of exposure. Electoral purification is a statutory duty of state officials, not a political tool,” he asserted, urging impartial implementation to ensure free and fair elections.

As political alignments remain fluid in Tamil Nadu, Palaniswami’s unambiguous stance reinforces AIADMK’s strategy to contest independently while aggressively highlighting DMK’s administrative lapses in agriculture, procurement, and electoral management.
