Abhijeet Dipke Alleges BJP Pressure Behind CJP Meeting Venue Denial

A meeting of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) volunteers scheduled at a banquet hall in Naraina was cancelled on Wednesday after the venue allegedly revoked the booking at the last minute. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke alleged that the cancellation followed pressure from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming organisers were informed that the hall could not be provided because of external pressure.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting was cancelled, Dipke claimed the organisers had already reserved the venue and arrived to find that the booking would not be honoured. He alleged that the venue management cited pressure as the reason for denying them access to the hall. Dipke also claimed that similar refusals had occurred at other venues in the area.

The CJP founder further alleged that people were being intimidated against providing venues for the party’s meetings. He maintained that the organisers would continue their activities despite the alleged pressure and asserted that the party’s volunteers would not be deterred from holding meetings. The allegations could not be independently verified from the information provided, and there was no immediate response from the BJP to the claims.

The development comes days after the CJP announced its national team, with Dipke appointed national convener as the outfit sought to establish an organisational structure. The party emerged into wider public attention following its agitation at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over the NEET paper leak issue. The protest led to sustained political pressure on the government and drew participation from students and young volunteers from different parts of the country.

The agitation continued for 36 days and also received support from opposition leaders. Activist Sonam Wangchuk joined the protest on June 28 and began an indefinite hunger strike before being shifted to Safdarjung Hospital after his health deteriorated. The CJP ended its nationwide protest on July 25 following talks with the government.

The agitation also witnessed police action on July 20 when protesters attempted to march towards Parliament. The NEET issue subsequently became a major point of confrontation between the government and opposition parties in Parliament, contributing to disruptions and a prolonged political deadlock. Against this backdrop, the alleged cancellation of the Delhi volunteer meeting has added another point of contention for the newly organised CJP.
