Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Begins Perambur Outreach With Several New Development Projects

Vijay launches development projects during first Perambur visit.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Perambur MLA C. Joseph Vijay on Monday made his first visit to his Assembly constituency after assuming office, inaugurating a series of development initiatives and reviewing ongoing infrastructure projects. The visit marked Vijay's first official engagement with Perambur residents and officials after retaining the constituency seat following the recent Assembly elections.

Vijay, who is also the president of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), won the Assembly election from both Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East constituencies. As required under electoral rules, he later resigned from the Tiruchirappalli East seat and retained Perambur, where he continues to serve as the sitting MLA. The Election Commission subsequently declared the Tiruchirappalli East seat vacant, making it one of the constituencies expected to witness a bypoll in the coming months.

Before stepping down from the Tiruchirappalli East seat, Vijay had visited the constituency to thank voters for their support and assured them that development efforts would continue despite his decision to retain Perambur. He had said that the interests and welfare of the people who supported him would remain a priority, even after relinquishing the seat.

During his maiden visit to Perambur as MLA, Vijay inaugurated the renovated constituency office and an e-Seva centre aimed at improving access to government services for residents. The facilities are expected to help people connect with administrative services more efficiently and address local issues through a more structured system of public engagement.

Apart from inaugurating the projects, Vijay also chaired a review meeting with senior government officials to assess development plans and infrastructure works proposed for the constituency. Officials briefed the chief minister on ongoing initiatives, pending projects and areas requiring attention. The meeting focused on improving civic facilities and ensuring that development activities move forward in accordance with the government's priorities.

Vijay's visit comes as he begins balancing responsibilities as both the state's chief minister and the elected representative of Perambur. Since entering electoral politics through TVK, Vijay has positioned governance, public welfare and administrative reforms as key areas of focus for his political agenda. His first constituency visit has been closely watched as an indication of his approach towards grassroots administration.

The development projects launched during the visit are part of a broader effort to strengthen local infrastructure and improve public service delivery in Perambur. With the chief minister now representing the constituency directly in the Assembly, residents and political observers are expected to closely monitor the implementation of announced projects and future initiatives. Vijay's upcoming visits and administrative decisions will likely shape public perception of his leadership at both the state and constituency levels.
