Air India’s Massive Rs 25 Lakh Payout to AI171 Crash Victims’ Families Revealed!
Air India disburses Rs 25 lakh to 166 families of AI171 crash victims, with Rs 1 crore ex-gratia pledged.
Air India, under the Tata Group, has initiated significant compensation measures for the families affected by the tragic AI171 crash, releasing interim payments of Rs 25 lakh to the kin of 147 out of the 229 deceased passengers and 19 individuals who perished at the accident site, according to a statement from the NDTV Profit Desk. The airline has also verified documents for 52 additional families, with their interim compensations to be disbursed progressively.
In a further commitment to honor the victims, the Tata Group has established ‘The AI-171 Memorial and Welfare Trust.’ The trust has pledged an ex-gratia payment of Rs 1 crore for each deceased passenger, aimed at providing substantial financial support to the bereaved families. Additionally, the trust will fund the reconstruction of the B.J. Medical College Hostel, which sustained damage during the incident.
Beyond financial compensation, the trust is dedicated to supporting first responders, medical professionals, disaster relief teams, social workers, and government staff who provided critical assistance in the aftermath. This includes aid to address trauma and distress experienced by those involved in the response efforts.
