Tripura CM Hails PM Modi for Peace, Development in Northeast

Tripura CM credits Modi for region’s peace, progress.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s transformative efforts in bringing peace and development to India’s Northeast, declaring Tripura a terror-free state and highlighting significant strides in Manipur’s stabilization. Speaking at the 2nd International Forensic Odontology Conference at the National Forensic Sciences University in Gandhinagar, Saha credited Modi’s vision and relentless focus for turning the once-volatile region into a hub of progress.

Saha’s remarks coincided with Modi’s visit to Manipur on Saturday, his first since ethnic violence erupted in May 2023. Addressing a public rally virtually from Lengpui Airport near Mizoram’s capital, Modi launched development projects worth Rs 9,000 crore, reinforcing his commitment to the region. Saha announced that Modi is set to visit Tripura on September 22 to inaugurate projects at the revered Tripureshwari Temple, one of the 51 Shaktipeethas, where he will also offer prayers.

“PM Modi always prioritizes peace and development in the Northeast. His HIRA model—Highways, Internet, Railways, and Airways—is revolutionizing connectivity and growth,” Saha told reporters. He contrasted Modi’s engagement, with over 60 visits to the region, against the indifference of previous prime ministers. “The Northeast was once marred by violence, but today, Tripura is terror-free, thanks to peace accords with militant groups and the Centre’s efforts,” he said, noting significant improvements in law and order.

Saha highlighted the region’s transformation from the “seven states” to ‘Ashtlakshmi,’ a term coined by Modi to include Sikkim and symbolize prosperity. “Until Ashtlakshmi is developed, India’s progress will remain incomplete,” he emphasized, pointing to advancements in railway networks, air connectivity, and internet infrastructure that have bolstered economic opportunities. In Tripura, projects like the Tripureshwari Temple’s development reflect Modi’s vision of blending cultural preservation with modern progress.

The Chief Minister’s remarks underscore the BJP-led government’s focus on integrating the Northeast into India’s growth story. With Manipur showing signs of recovery and Tripura emerging as a model of peace, Saha’s praise for Modi signals strong regional support as the Prime Minister continues to champion development and unity in the Northeast.
