Telangana CM Directs Hyderabad Metro Rail To Expedite Old City Work

Telangana CM seeks faster progress on Old City Metro work.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday directed officials to expedite work on the Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion in the old city under the Phase-2 project. Reddy reviewed the old city Metro project with senior officials of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) and instructed authorities to speed up road widening along the 7.5-km stretch between MGBS and Chandrayangutta. He also directed officials to initiate the tender process for Metro works on the corridor at the earliest.

The Chief Minister reviewed the status of pending land acquisition and instructed officials to finalise the Metro expansion plans without further delay. He also took note of the steadily increasing ridership on the Hyderabad Metro and directed authorities to take measures to manage the growing passenger load, including procuring additional Metro coaches.

For the MGBS-Chandrayangutta corridor, Reddy directed officials to consult Delhi Metro authorities regarding the appropriate technology for the project. The directions are part of efforts to accelerate the Phase-2 expansion and improve connectivity along the old city corridor, where road widening and land acquisition are among the key preparatory requirements.
