Tamil Nadu Secures ₹5,980 Crore Investment in Semiconductor and Aerospace Sectors
Tamil Nadu signs ₹5,980 crore MoUs to boost semiconductor and aerospace manufacturing, creating 8,400 jobs.
The Tamil Nadu government on Monday signed two major Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth a combined ₹5,980 crore with Japan’s MinebeaMitsumi and Bengaluru-based Aequs Group. The agreements aim to strengthen the state’s semiconductor and aerospace manufacturing sectors, generating 8,400 jobs across Tiruvallur and Krishnagiri districts.
NMB Minebea India Private Limited, a subsidiary of MinebeaMitsumi, committed ₹1,980 crore to establish a manufacturing and R&D centre at Mahindra Origins Industrial Park in Tiruvallur. The facility will focus on high-value semiconductor production, including Insulated-Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBT), Integrated Circuits (IC), as well as motors and sensors.
The MinebeaMitsumi project is expected to create 1,400 jobs, with over 40 percent reserved for highly skilled technical personnel. The initiative will establish a complete manufacturing ecosystem, enhancing the state’s capacity in advanced electronics and semiconductor research.

Separately, Aequs Group announced a ₹4,000 crore investment to expand Tamil Nadu’s aerospace manufacturing base at the SIPCOT-Shoolagiri Industrial Park in Krishnagiri. The project will develop a specialised aerospace and defence cluster focusing on aircraft engines, gearbox components, and precision engineering parts, generating employment for 7,000 people.
The Tamil Nadu government stated that these twin investments align with its strategy to position the state as a leading industrial hub while creating quality employment opportunities, particularly for youth and women. The signing ceremony was attended by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, Industries Minister T R B Rajaa, Chief Secretary N Muruganandam, and senior executives from both companies.
The agreements are expected to significantly boost Tamil Nadu’s contribution to India’s semiconductor and aerospace sectors, enhancing technology capabilities and industrial competitiveness while attracting further foreign and domestic investments in high-value manufacturing.
