Tamil Nadu Day Stuns with Pride: CM Stalin Hails Historic Identity Milestone

CM M K Stalin celebrates July 18 as the day Tamil Nadu gained its iconic name in 1967, marking a proud moment for Tamils.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin declared July 18 a “unique day” in the history of the Tamil community, commemorating the state’s official naming as Tamil Nadu in 1967.

In a heartfelt post on X, Stalin, who leads the DMK, recalled the historic moment when the DMK government, under former Chief Minister C N Annadurai, cemented the state’s identity. “On July 18, 1967, after the DMK came to power, this land’s identity changed,” he wrote. “Tamil Nadu Day – a dream come true when Annadurai named our state ‘Tamil Nadu’ thrice in the Assembly, resonating with pride!”

The celebration underscores the cultural and historical significance of the name, symbolizing the Tamil community’s long-cherished aspiration for recognition and unity.
