Staff Nurse Deepshikha Chadhar Shot Dead at Gate of Shahgarh Community Health Centre

A nurse was shot dead outside a health centre in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday, triggering shock among healthcare workers and residents and prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing.

According to initial reports, the incident occurred when the nurse was outside the health facility premises. She sustained gunshot injuries and was declared dead at the scene, officials said. The attack caused panic in the area, with staff and patients at the health centre left shaken by the violence.

Police personnel reached the spot soon after receiving information and cordoned off the area to carry out preliminary inquiries. Forensic teams were also deployed to collect evidence, including bullet casings and other material that could help identify the assailant and reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the shooting.

The killing has once again raised concerns about the safety of healthcare workers, particularly those serving in public health facilities. Officials said security arrangements at health centres would be reviewed, while colleagues and local organisations demanded swift justice and stronger measures to protect medical staff on duty.
