Nari Shakti At The Helm: PM Modi Celebrates Women-Led Development
PM Modi credits women for driving national development.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday hailed India’s Nari Shakti (women power) as a key force behind the country’s development and nation-building efforts, stating that women are making remarkable contributions across a wide range of sectors. In a series of posts on X, the Prime Minister said the achievements of Indian women are strengthening the nation and enhancing its global standing. He described women as the foundation of society and emphasised their growing role in shaping India’s future.
Referring to a Sanskrit verse, Modi highlighted the significance of women in social, economic and cultural life. He said mothers, sisters and daughters are bringing pride to the nation through their talent, determination and accomplishments in diverse fields. According to the Prime Minister, the success of women across professions reflects the growing opportunities available to them and demonstrates their increasing influence in India’s development journey.
Highlighting the achievements of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government over the past 12 years, Modi said the administration has consistently focused on women-led development. He noted that government initiatives have sought to improve women’s participation in financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, education, healthcare, sanitation, housing and governance. These efforts, he said, have been aimed at creating greater opportunities while ensuring dignity and empowerment for women across the country.

The Prime Minister also pointed to the expanding role of women in science, innovation and emerging technologies. He expressed satisfaction over the increasing participation of women in sectors such as space research, scientific development and drone technology, describing these areas as important drivers of India’s future growth. Modi said women are not only contributing to traditional sectors but are also leading advancements in fields that are shaping the modern economy.
Emphasising grassroots empowerment, Modi highlighted the role of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in promoting financial independence among women. He said these groups have become a powerful instrument for strengthening local economies and enabling women to become active participants in economic development. The government’s support for SHGs, he added, has helped create sustainable livelihood opportunities while encouraging greater financial inclusion.
The Prime Minister’s remarks came shortly after a meeting of NDA allies held to mark 12 years of the NDA government at the Centre. His comments also coincide with the government’s continued push for the implementation of women’s reservation in Parliament and state legislative assemblies. The proposed measure is being projected as a significant step towards increasing women’s representation in governance and further advancing the role of Nari Shakti in India’s democratic and developmental framework.
