Iran’s Yazd Experiences Explosions as Fuel Distribution Stops in Capital

Explosions hit Iran’s Yazd; Tehran fuel supply temporarily disrupted following US-Israel strikes.

Explosions were reported in Iran’s central Yazd province on Sunday, according to state media, as the country faces heightened hostilities with the United States and Israel. The official Iranian news agency, IRNA, said the blasts occurred on the outskirts of Yazd city, though the exact targets of the strikes were not immediately clear.

Earlier in the day, additional explosions were reported in other parts of the country, including the capital, Tehran, and the central province of Isfahan. The series of blasts has raised concerns about the safety of critical infrastructure and the potential for further disruptions in the region.

In Tehran, fuel distribution was temporarily interrupted following strikes on oil depots in and near the city. Mohammad Sadegh Motamedian, governor of Tehran, told IRNA that damage to the fuel supply network had caused the halt, but he reassured residents that efforts were underway to resolve the issue. "The problem is being resolved," he said.

While details about the scale of the damage and any casualties remain limited, the strikes highlight ongoing tensions between Iran and foreign powers, particularly the United States and Israel. Analysts suggest these attacks may be part of a broader strategy to target key energy infrastructure amid escalating political and military pressures.

Iran has previously faced international scrutiny for its nuclear and military programs, and incidents like Sunday’s explosions underscore the fragile security environment in the region. Local authorities have urged residents to remain calm while emergency response teams assess and repair affected sites.

As investigations continue, officials have yet to provide a full account of the damage or identify the responsible parties. The strikes on energy facilities, however, signal a potential escalation that could affect both domestic operations and international relations, making close monitoring essential in the coming days.
