Iran Rules Out Talks With US, Oman Continues Hormuz Negotiations
Iran rejects US dialogue while Oman mediates Hormuz talks.
Iran has ruled out any possibility of renewed negotiations with the United States, stating that its recent discussions with Oman are limited to managing arrangements related to the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian officials said the talks are focused on shipping issues in the strategically important waterway and are not linked to any diplomatic engagement with Washington.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei told reporters in Tehran that discussions with Oman took place on Friday and Saturday, with the primary focus being the management of maritime movement through the Strait of Hormuz. He said the situation surrounding the waterway remains unchanged and rejected claims that the talks were connected to possible US-Iran negotiations.
Addressing reports of indirect communication between Tehran and Washington, Baghaei dismissed the speculation and said Iran currently has no negotiations with the United States. He clarified that the discussions underway are only with Oman and are aimed at making necessary arrangements regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

The comments come amid rising tensions between Iran and the US following recent military confrontations in the region. Baghaei accused Washington of attempting to avoid responsibility for what he described as actions against Iran, while reiterating Tehran’s position that it has not sought to restart talks with the US to resolve the ongoing conflict.
According to reports, the US and Iran have exchanged strikes in recent weeks, with Washington carrying out attacks and Tehran responding by targeting what it described as American military facilities and equipment in the Middle East. The developments have increased concerns over wider regional instability.
Baghaei also alleged that some countries in the region had supported US actions against Iran, though he did not identify any specific nations. He warned regional governments against continuing cooperation with Washington in activities that Tehran views as hostile, as tensions remain high across the region.
