FIR Filed Against Self-Styled Godman Accused of Harassing Students

Self-styled godman allegedly coerced female students, sparking outrage.

In a shocking revelation in New Delhi, a self-styled godman, Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, faces serious allegations of sexually harassing and intimidating female students at the Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management. According to a First Information Report (FIR) filed on September 25, 2025, at Vasant Kunj North police station, the accused, previously known as Swami (Dr.) Parthasarathy, allegedly forced students to visit his quarters late at night, exploiting their vulnerabilities.

The FIR was lodged following a complaint from the institute’s management, prompted by a virtual meeting with over 30 female students. During the interaction, several students disclosed disturbing accounts of coercion and harassment. The FIR details that students, particularly those from economically weaker sections, were threatened with suspension and withholding of degrees if they resisted Chaitanyananda’s advances. In one alarming instance, a student was allegedly forced to change her name and delete messages from her phone to erase evidence of the godman’s misconduct.

The institute’s management expressed outrage over the exploitation, highlighting the psychological and emotional toll on the victims. The accusations have sent shockwaves through the academic community, raising questions about the safety of students in institutions influenced by self-proclaimed spiritual leaders.

Delhi Police have launched a rigorous investigation, forming multiple teams to apprehend the accused. A lookout circular has been issued to prevent Chaitanyananda from fleeing the country. “We are committed to ensuring justice for the victims,” a senior police official stated, emphasizing the urgency of the case. The authorities are also examining whether other students were subjected to similar abuse and are urging potential victims to come forward.

The case has sparked widespread condemnation, with activists and community leaders calling for stricter oversight of self-styled godmen and their influence in educational institutions. The allegations underscore the need for robust mechanisms to protect vulnerable students from exploitation under the guise of spiritual authority. As the investigation unfolds, the focus remains on delivering justice and ensuring a safe environment for students at the Sri Sharada Institute and beyond.
