FIR Against Ex-Amadeus Senior Manager for Exfiltrating Rs 87 Crore Source Code

Police have registered a case against a former senior employee of an IT firm for allegedly stealing proprietary software source code worth about ₹87 crore, officials said on Tuesday. The accused, Ashutosh Nigam, was employed as a senior manager research scientist at Amadeus Software Labs India Private Limited from February 1, 2020. According to the First Information Report (FIR), he is accused of unauthorisedly accessing and exfiltrating the company’s source code and confidential software data during his tenure.

Investigators said Nigam allegedly transferred the source code and other sensitive information from the company’s systems to his personal email account on October 11, 2025, without obtaining consent or approvals from the firm. The act was detected during an internal review conducted by the company.

When confronted with internal findings, records and technical reports, Nigam reportedly admitted to exfiltrating the source code. The FIR stated that his admission was video-recorded by the company as part of its internal inquiry process.

Following the incident, Nigam’s employment was terminated on December 3, 2025. The company informed police that the approximate value of the stolen software, including its source code, was around €8 million, equivalent to about ₹87 crore.

Based on a complaint filed by a company representative, the Whitefield CEN Crime Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act on January 23. Police said the alleged data theft caused severe business impact and compromised the company’s intellectual property rights, adding that further investigation is underway.
