Delhi BJP Plans Major Reshuffle, 75% Office-Bearers May Be Replaced With Youth
Delhi BJP may replace 75% office-bearers with youth
The Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party is preparing for a major organisational reshuffle, with party insiders indicating that nearly 75% of its office-bearers may be replaced as part of a wider leadership overhaul aimed at inducting younger faces and strengthening the party structure ahead of upcoming civic and political challenges. The proposed restructuring comes in the wake of Minister of State Harsh Malhotra taking charge as the party’s Delhi state unit president.
Under his leadership, the organisation is expected to undergo significant changes across key posts, including vice-presidents, general secretaries, and secretaries, as part of a systematic internal review. According to party sources, the reshuffle is being planned as a comprehensive exercise to realign the Delhi unit with the central leadership’s broader strategy of promoting new and emerging leadership. The focus, they said, is on building a more dynamic organisational framework while ensuring balanced representation across social and regional groups within the capital.
Insiders also said that the move is intended to strengthen the party’s ground-level machinery following its return to power in the region. With municipal and other local body elections on the horizon, the leadership is seeking to refresh organisational energy and improve coordination between various party wings to enhance electoral preparedness.

As part of the exercise, several long-serving office-bearers are likely to be replaced, with internal assessments reportedly highlighting the need to remove underperforming members and make room for younger leaders. The process is also expected to reward workers who have demonstrated strong grassroots engagement and organisational efficiency.
In a recent statement after assuming charge, Harsh Malhotra had indicated that the restructuring process would be completed within a few months, signalling a structured timeline for the transition. Party officials view the move as part of a recurring organisational cycle within the BJP, which periodically refreshes its leadership to maintain competitiveness and internal discipline. The final list of appointments is expected after consultations within the state leadership and approval from the central organisation, with formal announcements likely in the coming weeks as the restructuring process moves forward.
