Delhi 10/11 Blast Update: Bomber’s Ford EcoSport Used to Transport Ammonium Nitrate Across NCR
Red car ferried explosives in Delhi terror plot.
In a chilling twist to the investigation of Monday's devastating car explosion near Delhi's iconic Red Fort that claimed at least 13 lives and injured over 20, police sources have disclosed that the red Ford EcoSport—registered to the suicide bomber Dr Umar Nabi—was covertly used to shuttle dangerous ammonium nitrate to multiple covert locations across the National Capital Region, underscoring the meticulous planning behind what authorities have branded a "heinous terror incident" orchestrated by anti-national elements.
The eight-year-old vehicle, bearing Delhi registration DL10CK0458 and originally documented with the Rajouri Garden Authority, was discovered abandoned in a secluded plot in Khandavali village, Haryana, after forensic sweeps confirmed traces of the potent fertilizer-based explosive residue inside its trunk and compartments, hinting at repeated trips that evaded routine checkpoints and raising urgent questions about insider complicity in the logistics of this white-collar terror module.
The breakthrough came swiftly on Wednesday when the National Investigation Agency (NIA) descended on Faridabad's Al Falah University, Dr Nabi's workplace, to grill his inner circle; among them was Faheem, Nabi's trusted driver and aide, whose uneasy demeanor during questioning led to a bombshell confession about stashing the EcoSport at his sister's residence in Khandavali, prompting a rapid joint raid by police and NIA teams that unearthed the car under the cover of a plot owned by a deceased individual named Wahid, where Faheem's relatives had been residing.

Anticipating booby-traps or residual threats in the high-stakes recovery, authorities summoned a specialized bomb defusal squad alongside elite National Security Guard (NSG) commandos, who unleashed sniffer dogs and advanced scanners on the vehicle in a tense operation that yielded critical forensic samples without incident, further solidifying ammonium nitrate as the primary component in the Hyundai i20 blast that ignited chaos in the bustling tourist hub.
Now, four vehicles stand implicated in this sprawling conspiracy: the white Hyundai i20 that served as the suicide chariot driven by Nabi; a Maruti Dzire tied to accused doctor Dr Shaheen Saeed and utilized by co-conspirator Dr Muzammil Shakeel for shadowy errands; the seized EcoSport as the nitrate transporter; and a Maruti Brezza, also under Saeed's name, parked suspiciously at the university and suspected by investigators for reconnaissance sweeps or hasty escape maneuvers—painting a picture of a sophisticated network leveraging everyday cars for deadly intent.
