CM Stalin Vows No Place for Hindi in Tamil Nadu Ever

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin reaffirms fierce opposition to Hindi imposition on Language Martyrs Day.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin on Sunday paid heartfelt tributes to the Language Martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the historic anti-Hindi agitations, particularly in 1964-65. In a strong social media post marking Language Martyrs Day, he declared unequivocally that there is “no place for Hindi then, now and forever” in Tamil Nadu.

Stalin highlighted how Tamil Nadu unitedly resisted Hindi imposition with unmatched intensity whenever it was attempted, safeguarding not only Tamil but also the linguistic rights and identities of various communities across the Indian sub-continent. He credited the state’s leadership in the anti-Hindi struggle for protecting linguistic diversity nationwide.

Sharing a short video tracing the history of the agitation—including the self-immolations and sacrifices of the martyrs—Stalin honoured the pivotal roles played by DMK icons C N Annadurai and M Karunanidhi in championing Tamil pride. He promised that no more lives would be lost in the language war, vowing eternal opposition to any form of Hindi imposition while affirming that love for Tamil will never fade.

The remarks come amid the DMK’s long-standing criticism of the Centre’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which the party alleges promotes Hindi indirectly. Tamil Nadu continues to follow the two-language formula (Tamil and English) in schools, rejecting the three-language policy advocated nationally.
