CM Stalin Questions Centre: Is BJP Biased Against Tamil Nadu?
Chief Minister questions union government's actions in explosive social media post.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin launched a blistering attack on the BJP-led central government, echoing concerns raised by Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu. Just a day after Thennarasu accused the centre of “political prejudice” against Tamil Nadu during a state Assembly discussion on the state’s financial position, Stalin took to social media on Saturday to amplify these grievances and pose hard-hitting questions to the union government.
In his post, Stalin asserted that the concerns were not limited to Tamil Nadu’s leadership but resonated with people across India. “I am raising a few of them here,” he wrote, listing a series of pointed queries aimed at the BJP’s governance. He questioned how individuals accused of corruption seemingly emerge unscathed after aligning with the BJP, likening the process to a “washing machine” that cleans their records. Stalin also criticized the centre’s apparent preference for naming schemes and laws exclusively in Hindi and Sanskrit, calling it an act of “linguistic arrogance” that sidelines other Indian languages, including Tamil. He further accused certain union ministers of promoting “unscientific superstitions,” which he claimed stifled the intellectual growth of young minds.

The Chief Minister also raised concerns about the role of governors in opposition-ruled states, alleging they were being used as “instruments of confusion and political obstruction” to undermine state governments. Stalin didn’t stop there—he accused the BJP of endorsing “vote theft” to secure electoral victories, a charge that adds fuel to the ongoing debate over electoral integrity.
Turning to Tamil Nadu’s contributions, Stalin expressed frustration over the centre’s failure to recognize the state’s scientific achievements. He specifically highlighted the central government’s refusal to approve Tamil Nadu’s research report, which provided scientific evidence of ancient iron usage in the region. Additionally, he questioned why obstacles were placed to suppress the archaeological findings at Keezhadi, a site that has revealed significant evidence of Tamil Nadu’s ancient civilization.
Stalin concluded his post with a provocative challenge: “Will there be answers to these questions? Or will the usual campaign of lies on WhatsApp University begin again?” The term “WhatsApp University” is a colloquial jab at the spread of misinformation through social media, often attributed to BJP supporters.
This latest confrontation underscores the growing rift between Tamil Nadu’s DMK-led government and the BJP-led centre. As Stalin and his ministers continue to challenge the union government’s policies, the debate over federalism, linguistic diversity, and scientific recognition is likely to intensify, drawing attention from across the nation.
