CM Bhajanlal Sharma Launches Mahila Jan Akrosh Yatra, Targets Opposition
CM Bhajanlal Sharma launches Mahila Jan Akrosh Yatra in Jaipur, criticises Opposition over women’s rights issues.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Monday accused opposition parties of attempting to undermine women’s rights and aspirations while asserting that the Central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains committed to strengthening women’s participation in governance. He made the remarks while launching the Mahila Jan Akrosh Yatra in Jaipur.
Addressing the gathering, Sharma said the recent passage of the constitutional amendment related to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam on April 17 should have been a historic milestone for women’s empowerment. However, he alleged that opposition parties tried to obstruct and derail the legislation in Parliament, preventing it from being celebrated as a moment of consensus on women’s representation.
The Chief Minister claimed that parties with what he described as a “dynastic mindset” opposed the legislation, and said they would face public backlash from women. He emphasized that Indian culture has always placed women at the highest respect and argued that the government’s intent behind the law was to ensure greater participation of women in decision-making processes.

Sharma also expanded his criticism to other national policy issues, stating that opposition parties have consistently opposed key government decisions such as the abrogation of Article 370 and discussions around a Uniform Civil Code. He further alleged that during Operation Sindoor, opposition leaders questioned the actions of the Indian Armed Forces, though he did not provide additional details on the operation.
Highlighting welfare schemes introduced by the Centre since 2014, Sharma listed initiatives such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Ujjwala Yojana, Lakhpati Didi, and Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana as examples of efforts aimed at women’s empowerment. He said that the vision of a “developed India and developed Rajasthan” could not be achieved without active participation of women in leadership and governance.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, who also attended the event, echoed similar sentiments and criticised opposition parties for their stance on the Women’s Reservation Bill, calling it an “insult to women.” The Mahila Jan Akrosh Yatra witnessed participation from several BJP leaders, including state ministers, MPs, and women’s wing representatives, along with party workers and supporters from across different sections of society.
