CJP Seeks Government Accountability Over Poor Conditions In Rajasthan Schools
CJP demands accountability over Rajasthan school infrastructure.
CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka has defended the organisation’s “School Thik Karo” campaign, stating that it will continue visiting schools across India to highlight poor infrastructure and seek accountability from governments. Speaking to IANS on Saturday, Ranka rejected allegations that the campaign was driven by electoral or political considerations and maintained that the organisation’s focus was on improving conditions in government schools.
Ranka questioned the Rajasthan government over the condition of schools and argued that the focus should be on when authorities would address infrastructure deficiencies rather than on what the CJP campaign would do within a particular timeframe. He referred to claims that around 600 schools in Rajasthan are functioning without proper buildings and that nearly 85,000 classrooms are in poor condition, urging authorities to address these concerns.
The CJP spokesperson also referred to an alleged assault in a Rajasthan village involving members of the organisation. He stated that videos of the incident had been circulated on social media platforms and shared with the police. Ranka claimed the footage was unedited and could help authorities identify those involved. He also maintained that if there was evidence supporting allegations against CJP members, that material should be made public as part of the investigation.

Ranka rejected allegations that the organisation was targeting the BJP for political reasons. He said CJP representatives had visited the area after receiving information that a school had allegedly been operating from a buffalo shed for around two-and-a-half years. Ranka said he had personally visited the school the previous year and had documented its condition, arguing that children should not be required to study in such circumstances.
He said the “School Thik Karo” campaign would continue until schools identified as having serious infrastructure problems were repaired. Ranka maintained that the organisation was seeking accountability from the government rather than votes or political support. He also urged authorities to examine the condition of schools on the ground and take appropriate action where infrastructure was found to be inadequate.
Addressing Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar, Ranka questioned the government’s response to the alleged school operating from a buffalo shed. He expressed concern over the safety of students studying in a temporary structure and the presence of buffaloes and fodder nearby. The allegations and the circumstances surrounding the reported assault remain matters for the concerned authorities to examine.
