CDS-Level Talks Between India And Armenia Focus On Joint Military Hardware Projects
India and Armenia discuss joint military hardware development to deepen defence cooperation and strategic partnership.
India and Armenia have explored new avenues for defence cooperation, including potential joint ventures in military hardware development, during high-level talks held between senior military leadership of both countries. The discussions were aimed at strengthening bilateral strategic ties and expanding collaboration in defence technology and production.
The meeting was held between India’s Chief of Defence Staff Anil Chauhan and Armenia’s Chief of the General Staff Lt Gen Edvard Asryan in New Delhi. During the engagement, the Armenian military delegation was accorded a Guard of Honour, reflecting the formal and strategic nature of the visit. Officials said the discussions focused on deepening defence cooperation and exploring joint development opportunities in military hardware.
According to the Headquarters of Integrated Defence Staff, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to building a “future-oriented and mutually beneficial strategic partnership.” The talks included proposals for joint ventures in defence manufacturing, signalling a shift towards greater collaboration in technology sharing, production, and capability development between the two nations.

This latest engagement builds on a series of high-level exchanges in recent months. Earlier in February, General Chauhan led an Indian defence delegation to Armenia, where he met Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The discussions at that time also focused on evolving geopolitical challenges and expanding defence and strategic cooperation between India and Armenia.
During the same visit, the Indian delegation held meetings with Armenia’s Defence Minister Suren Papikyan and senior foreign ministry officials. The two sides exchanged views on regional security concerns and explored new opportunities for collaboration in military training, procurement, and technological exchange. These engagements highlighted growing alignment on defence priorities between the two countries.
General Chauhan also addressed faculty and students at Armenia’s National Defence Research University, where he spoke about changing global security dynamics. He emphasised the impact of emerging technologies such as cyber warfare, electronic warfare, space systems, and cognitive domains on modern conflicts. Officials said the dialogue reflects a broader effort by both nations to adapt to evolving forms of warfare and strengthen cooperation in advanced defence capabilities.
