Canada Police Search For Indian Psychic Over Alleged $800,000 Scam And Escape
Canada police hunt accused fraud suspect
Toronto Police have issued an arrest warrant for a 29-year-old man of Indian origin accused of allegedly posing as a psychic and spiritual healer to defraud a victim of more than $800,000. Authorities said the suspect, identified as Gangadhar Babu, has left Canada and is believed to have fled to India following the alleged fraud. According to the Toronto Police Service, the accused allegedly used claims of supernatural abilities, fortune-telling, and spiritual protection to gain the victim’s trust before obtaining large sums of money. Investigators said the case involves an alleged fraud scheme in which the suspect presented himself as a psychic and spiritual healer known as “Babu.”
Police said the alleged fraud took place over a period of more than a year, between April 2024 and September 2025. During this time, Babu allegedly convinced the victim that he possessed special spiritual powers and could provide guidance or protection through supernatural means. Investigators allege that these claims were used to manipulate the victim and obtain financial benefits. The Toronto Police Service has described the case as a serious fraud investigation and is examining whether additional individuals may have been targeted through a similar method.
Authorities have appealed to members of the public who may have had comparable experiences with the accused or individuals using similar tactics to come forward and assist the investigation. Police said the suspect exploited the victim’s belief in spiritual practices and supernatural powers as part of the alleged scheme. Fraud investigators have increasingly warned about scams that rely on emotional manipulation, including claims involving spiritual healing, fortune-telling, and promises of protection or solutions to personal problems. The alleged financial loss of more than $800,000 makes the case one of significant concern for investigators.

Authorities are working to trace the movement of funds and gather additional evidence related to the alleged offences. The arrest warrant remains active, and police are seeking information that could help locate the accused or identify other possible victims. Fraud-related investigations involving alleged spiritual or psychic scams often depend on victims coming forward, as such schemes can remain undiscovered for long periods due to embarrassment, fear, or emotional attachment to the accused. Law enforcement agencies have repeatedly encouraged individuals who believe they may have been defrauded to report such incidents.
Toronto Police have urged anyone with information about Gangadhar Babu or anyone who believes they may have been affected by a similar scheme to contact investigators. Authorities have not disclosed further details about the victim or the specific methods allegedly used to obtain the money, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation. The case highlights continuing concerns over fraudulent schemes that exploit personal beliefs and vulnerabilities for financial gain. As police continue their investigation, officials are focusing on locating the accused, determining whether other victims exist, and ensuring accountability through legal action.
