BRS MLA Faces Police Case Over Secunderabad Remarks on Telangana CM

BRS MLA booked over controversial remarks on Telangana CM and Secunderabad division.

Hyderabad Police have registered a case against former minister and BRS MLA T. Srinivas Yadav for making objectionable remarks against Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The case was filed on Wednesday at SR Nagar Police Station following a complaint lodged by Congress leader Ravikiran Devulapalli.

The controversy arose during a public meeting in Secunderabad, where Srinivas Yadav expressed strong opposition to the Congress government’s proposal to divide Secunderabad into three corporations under the Greater Hyderabad plan. Addressing the Chief Minister, he said, “If you try to divide Secunderabad into pieces, you will be divided into pieces,” prompting widespread condemnation.

Congress leaders reacted sharply to the remarks. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) vice-president criticized the BRS MLA, warning him to restrain from making derogatory statements against CM Revanth Reddy. She added that if he repeats such remarks, strict action will follow.

Following the backlash, Srinivas Yadav clarified that his comments were meant to highlight opposition to the Secunderabad division and were not intended as a personal threat. He formally withdrew the statements and emphasized that he respects constitutional authorities, including the Chief Minister.

The BRS MLA also raised concerns about administrative changes in Secunderabad, noting that several police stations had been merged into the Malkajgiri zone, and some divisions were included in the Bowenpally circle. He questioned whether these moves truly left Secunderabad unaffected, as claimed by the CM.

Srinivas Yadav represents the Sanath Nagar Assembly constituency and has been vocal about local administrative issues. The case against him is seen as part of the broader political tussle between BRS and the ruling Congress party in Telangana over urban governance and local reforms.
