“Books Build Nations”: Amit Shah’s Patriotic Message at New Delhi World Book Fair

Amit Shah promotes patriotism at New Delhi World Book Fair by gifting Anand Math to children.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday visited the New Delhi World Book Fair at Bharat Mandapam, where he emphasised the timeless importance of books in shaping intellect, values, and national consciousness. Calling books the most powerful medium of knowledge, he highlighted their role in nurturing informed, inspired, and patriotic citizens, especially among the youth.

During his visit, Shah toured several thematic pavilions, including the Vande Mataram Pavilion, the Operation Sindoor Pavilion, and an exhibition dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He interacted warmly with children and distributed copies of Anand Math by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, describing the iconic novel as a cornerstone of India’s freedom struggle and a source of enduring inspiration.

In a series of posts on X, the Home Minister expressed concern over the declining habit of reading in modern times. He noted that despite the rise of digital media, both print and digital books continue to play a vital role in broadening perspectives, fostering critical thinking, and preserving cultural and historical awareness.

Reflecting on Anand Math, Shah said the literary classic ignited the spirit of resistance against British rule and motivated countless Indians to join the freedom movement. By gifting the book to children, he said the objective was to instil the ideals, sacrifices, and dreams of India’s freedom fighters in young minds.

At the Vande Mataram Pavilion, Shah observed that the exhibition vividly portrays the historic journey of India’s national song, which united people and ignited patriotic fervour during the freedom struggle. Organised to mark 150 years of Vande Mataram, the pavilion highlights its enduring role in strengthening national unity.

The Home Minister also visited the exhibition on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, stating that commemorating the Iron Man of India’s 150th birth anniversary reflects the Modi government’s commitment to educating the youth about Patel’s monumental role in unifying the nation. Additionally, at the Operation Sindoor Pavilion, Shah said the display symbolises India’s military strength and strategic resolve, serving as a powerful source of inspiration and patriotism for the younger generation.
